Describe the calculation or term you need explained, rather than the individual claim. A short example with simple numbers is enough.
A question we can work with
“In a worked example, the expected allowance is $180 and the patient’s share is $36. Should I compare the payer payment with $180 or $144?”
That explains the point of confusion without needing a real claim, service date, diagnosis, payment reference, or patient identifier.
What to leave out
Do not send names, birth dates, member numbers, claim identifiers, medical records, screenshots, or a combination of details that could identify someone. Removing a name alone does not make a record safe to share; HHS provides guidance on de-identification. Ask DueMD is not a de-identification service.
Do not quote a confidential contract or a non-public fee schedule either. Describe the general kind of rule with illustrative values.
What happens after you send
The question enters a private editorial queue. An optional, separate checkbox lets us consider an edited version for publication. Without it, the submission is not used as a public reader question.
An email is optional and used only for contact about the question. There is no guaranteed reply time. For urgent work, a filing deadline, or a decision requiring access to records, use your organization’s normal support or review process.
Read the question guidelines, then send a general question.
