Question guidelines

What to include in a general question, what to leave out and how permission to publish an edited question works.

Ask DueMD covers healthcare payment calculations, payer-contract concepts, denial-cost estimates, and use of the free tools. It is a place to ask for a general explanation, not a route for processing a claim.

Include the question, not the record

Use a short title and explain which part you do not understand. Mention what you have already checked if that helps. Illustrative amounts are enough for a calculation question.

Focus on the calculation or term rather than naming an organization in a dispute. Ask DueMD is not a forum for allegations or confidential disagreements.

Leave out patient and confidential information

No patient names, birth dates, service dates tied to a person, member IDs, claim identifiers, medical record numbers, diagnoses linked to an individual, or combinations that could identify someone. Do not send screenshots, claims, remittances, or attachments.

Do not share confidential agreements, unpublished fee schedules, credentials, passwords, or material you do not have permission to disclose. If the question needs those records to be answered, use your organization’s approved channel instead.

Removing a name is not enough to establish de-identification. See HHS guidance for background. Automated screening on a form cannot guarantee that a question is safe to publish.

Review comes before publication

Every submitted question starts in a private queue. There are no automatic posts or public profiles. We may decline questions, combine overlapping topics, or ask you to rephrase a question when a contact email was supplied.

The publication checkbox is optional. When selected, it lets us consider a carefully edited, non-identifying version of the question for an answer. Without it, the private submission must not become a published reader question. A contact email is never part of the public answer.

Do not wait here for urgent help

There is no guaranteed response time. Ask DueMD does not provide medical advice, contract interpretation, coding approval, or a payer’s determination. Keep time-sensitive work and professional decisions in your existing review process.

Corrections and privacy concerns

Use Ask DueMD for a general correction to an explanation. For removal of a submission or a privacy concern, contact the operator through the privacy notice and include only the receipt or page address—not the sensitive details again.
